Westminster tube station is in zone one of the London underground network and is served by three lines – the Circle, District and Jubilee. The station is in two parts – the first section opened in 1868 by the Metropolitan District Railway and was initially called Westminster Bridge until 1907, when it was shortened to just Westminster. At the end of the 20th century in 1999, the second part of the station was opened with the deep level platforms of the Jubilee line extension and at the same time, the original station had to be rebuilt.
